Whilst I advocate the use of technology for educational delivery, parents should also consider the amount of time their children spend on their devices.
While technology offers numerous benefits, especially within education, excessive screen time can have severe consequences for your children, including:
- Weaker Academic Performance.
- Sedentary Behaviour, leading to obesity and posture problems. 🏃🌿
- Increases in stress, anxiety and even depression in young children.😓🌧️
Some Strategies to reduce Screen Time include:
1. Tech-Free Zones: Designate certain areas in your home as tech-free zones, such as the dining room and bedrooms. These spaces should be for family interaction and relaxation. 🍽️🛌
2. Lead by Example: Children learn from their parents. Be a positive role model by demonstrating healthy screen habits and setting your own limits. 📵💪
3. Regular Screen Time Reviews: Periodically review and adjust screen time rules based on your child's age, needs, and progress. 🔄👦👧
