Two ways we help
Most students start with subject tutoring. Many add interview coaching when they apply.
Subject tutoring
One-to-one lessons in Maths, English and Science, specialising in Biology, across GCSE, Junior Cert, A-Level and Leaving Cert. Each session is shaped around how the student learns, online or in person.
Interview coaching
Preparation for course and job interviews. We work through the questions you can expect and map your real skills and achievements to the role, so you go in prepared and yourself, not reading from a script.

Taught by Matthew Cavanagh
Auxilium Education is led by Matthew Cavanagh, a Psychology PhD candidate with an MSc in Health Psychology. He brings academic depth and real teaching experience to one-to-one tutoring.
The aim is simple: help each student build confidence, understand the material, and become a more independent learner.
The teaching fits the student, not the other way around.

Notes on learning
Managing screen time
Technology is a powerful tool for learning, but it is worth keeping an eye on how much time children spend on their devices. Heavy use is linked to weaker academic performance, more sedentary habits, and higher stress and anxiety in young people. A few things that help: keep some spaces tech-free, like the dining room and bedrooms, so they are for family and rest. Model the habits you want to see, since children take their lead from their parents. And review the rules as your child grows, adjusting for their age and needs.
AI in education: a tool, not a shortcut
Artificial intelligence is changing how students work, and it is worth being clear-eyed about it. The Irish Times reported that ChatGPT passed a full Leaving Cert English exam, scoring 77 percent, a H3. That is enough to study English at an Irish university. I have seen students use it to produce polished homework. It looks impressive, but it does little for their actual learning beyond meeting a deadline. AI is not going away, and used well it is a good source of guidance and ideas. The risk is letting it do the thinking for you. Use it as a tool, not a replacement for your own effort and originality.
Why inclusive education matters
Inclusive education is central to how Auxilium works. It means recognising that students have different needs, and making sure every one of them has real access to good teaching. It builds an environment where students feel respected and safe, which develops empathy and lowers barriers. In practice it means adapting how a topic is taught, with different approaches and, where useful, assistive tools. It also supports students socially and emotionally, encouraging the everyday skills that matter beyond the exam.
